Analysis on Export Potential for Members of PEPEKO

The expertise was provided within the framework of the GIZ Project „Creating Employment through Export Promotion” and aimed to explore export opportunities in the Kosovar fruit and vegetable sector.

The project activities included:

Conducting research on the EU/DACH market to assess demands for vegetables, fruits, and berries (frozen and processed). This involved supporting the identification of products from Kosovo with export potential, focusing on establishing long-term trade links to better exploit opportunities in the EU/DACH market.
Analyzing existing production and production capacity for the aforementioned products in Kosovo. This included examining the current situation of cultivation, processing, and selling.
Evaluating local products and the marketing strategies of companies, and providing advice to improve marketing strategies based on the latest market trends. This encompassed exploring opportunities to produce and export organic processed fruit and vegetable products, such as under the label „Bioland“.

Analyzing Kosovar companies to assess their compliance with quality requirements and other international trade demands. This involved identifying and informing companies about international market standards relevant to their operations.
Providing recommendations to member companies on potential new products to enhance current production, expand product ranges, and increase export potential.
Producing a detailed report describing the sector, including opportunities, challenges, and obstacles. The report also provided recommendations for reducing obstacles and challenges within the sector.
Facilitating a workshop with members of the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Processors (PePeKo) to present the research findings and discuss recommendations.“
